So this is my beautiful little cousin Maya. She’s 8 now, but this was taken when she would have been about 6 or 7.
When she was five I asked her a question about the previous christmas and she went silent, pressing the spoon she was holding to the side of her head as she lost herself in thought. After a few minutes I nudged her “Maya, did you hear me?”.
“Yep,” she said quietly. “I’m just searching my memory room.”
“Your what?”
“My memory room! The room in my brain where all the memories are. Christmas was a long time ago, Jess, I need to find the memory you’re talking about.”
It seems the youngest in the family has a mind-palace.

So I watched the Elementary trailer. I tried to go with it, I thought “Hey, let’s give it a chance” but honestly, from the trailer I wouldn’t watch it (and that’s what a trailer’s for, right? To make people intrigued enough that they want to watch the episode?).

It wasn’t a trailer that grabbed me. Apart from the ‘Joan Watson’ stuff that everyone’s been criticising for months, Sherlock wasn’t Sherlock Holmes at all; he was too personal, too attached to the people around him. They may as well have just make it another CSI/SVU type detective show for all it reflected of ACD’s original works. That’s all I really have to say on the matter. Perhaps I’m biased because of my love for BBC Sherlock, but regardless it’s not something that I’ll watch. (Also, there is already an American Sherlock and that’s The Mentalist. I can’t help but fear people will draw comparison’s between that already successful show and Elementary and see the latter as a copy-cat)
